Nur wenige Menschen können von sich behaupten, so viel für den musikalischen Austausch auf dem Planeten getan zu haben wie der Berliner DJ, Produzent, Journalist und Labelchef Daniel Haaksman. Mit der Veröffentlichung seiner „Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats“ im Jahr 2004 hat er die Sounds von Rios Favelas zum ersten Mal einem weltweiten Publikum vorgestellt, parallel dazu hat er den Genre-Begriff „Baile Funk“ (in Brasilien wird diese Musik als „Funk Carioca“ bezeichnet) geschaffen.
Ab 2005 gab Daniel dem Sound von Rio De Janeiro eine eigene Plattform und gründete Man Recordings, eines der führenden internationalen Labels tropischer Bass Musik. Man Recordings hat unzählige Aufnahmen von Künstlern wie Diplo, Schlachthofbronx, Crookers, Bert On Beats oder von Daniel Haaksman selbst veröffentlicht, sowie die Crème de la Crème brasilianischer Künstler wie Deize Tigrona, João Brasil, Lovefoxxx, Marina Gasolina oder Edu K.
Haaksmanns eigene musikalische Arbeiten umfassen verschiedene EPs, das Album „Rambazamba“, sowie Dutzende offizielle Remixe für Künstler wie Gotan Project, Bonde Do Role, Schlachthofbronx, Waldemar Bastos, Lord Nelson oder Scottie B. Als DJ hat er die Welt bereist und spielte in unzähligen Clubs, Festivals und Events, darunter unter anderem Hollywood-Hochzeitsparties und Ghetto-Jams mit bewaffneten Türstehern. Der partyfreundliche Mix aus Baile Funk, House, Trap, Bubbling, Kuduro und allem, was es dazwischen sonst noch so gibt, hat das Publikum überall begeistert. Daniel kennt keine musikalischen Regeln, außer einer: Ein DJ hat die Party zu rocken.


Few individuals can claim to have done so much for musical exchange across the globe as Berlin based DJ, producer, journalist and label boss Daniel Haaksman. With the release of his 2004 compilation "Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats" he introduced the sound of Rio ́s favelas for the first time to a global audience, creating the genre term „Baile Funk“ (in Brasil, the music is called „Funk Carioca“) at the same time.
From 2005 Daniel gave the sound of Rio De Janeiro its own platform as well as the Berlin treatment and started Man Recordings, today considered one of the leading international labels in tropical bass music. Man Recordings has released countless records by artists such as such as Diplo, Schlachthofbronx, Crookers, Bert On Beats or Daniel Haaksman himself amongst others, as well as the creme of Brazilian artists such as Deize Tigrona, João Brasil, Lovefoxxx, Marina Gasolina or Edu K.
Daniel ́s own musical output includes various EP releases, the „Rambazamba“ album, plus dozens of smashing, official remixes for artists such as Gotan Project, Bonde Do Rolê, Schlachthofbronx, Waldemar Bastos, Lord Nelson or Scottie B amongst others. As a DJ, he has travelled the world and played countless clubs, festivals and events, including Hollywood wedding parties to gunman patrolled ghetto- jams. His party friendly mix of baile funk, house, trap, bubbling, kuduro and everything in between has excited audiences everywhere. Daniel knows no musical rules, except for one: A DJ has to rock the party.
Since 2013 Daniel hosts the weekly radio mix show „Luso FM“ on German public radio „WDR Funkhaus Europa“. He also writes as a music journalist for various German dailies and weeklies such as Frankfurter Allgemeine and Zeit Magazin amongst others. Daniel is currently working on his second album with a scheduled release in spring 2015.
